Each week your child will continue to have:
Spellings will be given out on a Friday and will be tested on the following Friday. These words are either taken from the Year 3/4 statutory word list or follow a specific spelling pattern that we have covered in school. The children can practice these in any way they like (we teach the children a range of strategies in school), but all children have access to Spelling Shed to practice if they wish. We follow the No Nonsense Spelling programme within school.
We will be continuing with Times Tables Rockstars! across the school this year which is a great online platform
to help your children learn their tables. They will have plenty of opportunities to practise in class but can also
do so at home.
Ideally, children should read on a daily basis. Reading aloud helps them to become fluent, expressive and can help with their comprehension.
Whether your child has been reading independently or not, it is very important to discuss and ask
The children have access to Read Theory if they prefer to practise comprehension online.
|English and Maths homework
English and/or maths homework will be set each Thursday and will be collected in on the following Thursday. We discuss the homework
as a class and the children self-mark where appropriate. This homework will consolidate our learning within class, usually focusing on a
particular aspect of maths fluency or a grammar/punctuation feature.
