Marton-cum-Grafton C.E. (VA) Primary School is a small Church of England Voluntary Aided village school, which serves a rural community in North Yorkshire and has been established since 1861. As of January 2022, there are 114 children on roll with 101 full time in the main school and 13 in preschool. The School has an excellent reputation in the local community and the catchment area for the school includes the village of Marton-cum-Grafton and outlying farms and other local villages and the local market town of Boroughbridge.

The school joined Elevate Multi-Academy Trust on 1st October 2019.

The School has clubs before and after school to enrich provision and provide childcare for parents, these includes gardening, dance, IT, choir, cookery, lego and various sports clubs run by local providers, parents and staff.  The PTA, called ‘The Friends’, are very active in supporting the well-being of the pupils and the school and raising funds to assist in visits, extracurricular events and activities designed to support the pupils’ cultural, social and emotional development. There are also strong links with local child minders and information is given to parents regarding local childcare providers. The school week is typically 33.75 hours.

The children in our school are well motivated and independent. They have a thirst for knowledge and engage confidently and enthusiastically in their lessons. Pupils are articulate and able to offer thoughtful and interesting comments during lessons. They participate very well in all school activities and appreciate what the school does for them. They show a very high level of care and concern for others and enjoy taking on responsibilities within the school. They play a very active part within the community.
